David Petty is a research scientist focused on high fidelity simulations of hypersonic impulse facilities for free-stream test predictions and shock tube design. He received his B.E. in Mechanical & Space Engineering from the University of Queensland, B.Sc. with a mathematics field of study from University of Queensland, and Ph.D. in Aerospace engineering from University of Queensland. He then worked as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign in the Mechanical Science & Engineering Department for two and a half years. His research interests are reacting and compressible turbulence fluid mechanics using both a computational and theoretical approach to study these problems.
